“Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.
And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.” ~ Genesis 9:6-7

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward." ~ Psalm 127:3

"Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table." ~ Psalm 128:3

Pregnancy Perspective

http://pregnancy.about.com/od/pregnancyemotions/ss/Pregnancy-Inspiration_17.htm
(From http://pregnancy.about.com/od/pregnancyemotions/ss/Pregnancy-Inspiration_17.htm)

This is a pretty powerful thought. The average female life expectancy in the US is 82. That is 29930 days. The length of one pregnancy? Less than 1% of your life. 10 pregnancies? Still less than ten percent of your life. And in the eternal perspective of things? A blink of the eye. Something for all of us to remember when we are in the throes of morning sickness, sore breasts, full bladders, and muscles that don't want to do what they are told.

Children are a Sanctifying Force in Our Lives

 "Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control." ~ 1 Timothy 2:15

Who Made You?

Q: Who Made You?
A: God Made Me

When our children are little we begin to teach them the Christian faith using catechism and this is the very first question and answer they learn. When we say "God Made Me", we do not merely mean to say that God created the human race, perpetuated through Adam, but that God is intricately and intimately involved in each of their creations. The Psalmist says:

139:13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[b]
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them. [NKJV]

The NIV uses the word 'knit'...

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

Our children are the creative work of God! There are literally dozens of verses that testify to this fact. For an extensive list of them, please take a look at  http://valerieslivinglibrary.com/heritage.
